What is a QuarterBoard
Quarter-boards are handsomely carved ornamental sign boards, originally made for ships in the early 1800's.
Maritime law required that each ship be identified with boards bearing their name.
These signs were placed on the ship's stern and along the quarter panel of the bow.
Hence the name QuarterBoards.
Modern Uses
Now they are commonly found at homes adorned with family names, estates, stables, or are even used as welcome and holiday signs.
